NATO’s perspective on the threat posed by UAS

Day 1: Tuesday 8 September | 10.45 - 11.15

Claudio PalestiniThe disruption caused by unmanned aerial systems in isolated incidents over the past 18 months have barely scratched the surface of the potential threat. UAS could pose a generational challenge in the context of counter-terrorism and as technologies proliferate and are economised across the globe, this threat will only mature. Claudio will address these concerns and offer his insight into how NATO partners are engaging with one another and developing joint strategies to combat this mutual threat.

Delivering Counter-Explosive Ordnance Support to International Partners

The Value of Intelligence-led Operations: A Case Study of Climate Change Activists

Day 2: Wednesday 9 September | 14.15 - 14.45

In 2019, one of Ascential’s major events was targeted by climate change activists with a history of mounting non-violent but highly disruptive protests.  Richard and Jesper will explain the value of proactive intelligence gathering, collaboration with security stakeholders and how this helped to develop a collective plan which prevented any significant disruption to the event.
