Mitigating terrorist threats to accessible public spaces

‘Soft targets’ and crowded places (ST-CP’s) such as stadia, busy streets, shopping centres and major events have been targeted with increasing frequency in recent years.

The threat we face in the UK is considerable and as we have seen across Europe and further afield, attacks on crowded places can happen anytime, anywhere and in a number of forms ranging massively in sophistication and scale.

While or law enforcement and security services are well equipped and highly effective in detecting and disrupting plots, it is the owners and operators of crowded spaces who have the responsibility for protecting their venues.
