Meet our experts

Counter Terror Expo (CTX) will be the first meeting of security and counter terror experts since the coronavirus outbreak.

CTX’s conference programme is aligned to its core themes of emergency preparedness, protection of people and critical infrastructure. These themes will be addressed across four theatres: Protecting People, Protecting Infrastructure, Ambition and World Counter Terror Congress.

See below for highlights of our speaker sessions or browse the list of confirmed speakers.

Our four theatres

Protecting People

Protecting people

‘Soft targets’ and crowded places (ST-CP’s) such as stadia, busy streets, shopping centres and major events have been targeted with increasing frequency in recent years.

The threat we face in the UK is considerable and as we have seen across Europe and further afield, attacks on crowded places can happen anytime, anywhere and in a number of forms ranging massively in sophistication and scale.

Protecting Infrastructure

Protecting infrastructure

We live in a ‘just-in-time' society that has become almost entirely dependent on goods and services distributed through increasingly delicate critical infrastructure, so the potential consequences of disruption to that infrastructure has serious ramifications.

However, the increasing importance of well protected, resilient infrastructure is matched by the growing complexities and interdependencies of a CNI which is spread across sectors and nation states. Relationships between stakeholders are somewhat disjointed, the ownership of risk is unclear and yet the consequences of failure are potentially catastrophic.

World Counter Terror

WCTC logo

The international terrorist threat continues to evolve and remains at the forefront of concerns for security agencies and law enforcement, both in the West and globally.

No single nation, institution, or organization can defeat terrorism alone, a co-ordinated response is therefore necessary to tackle the ideologies fuelling international terrorism and strengthen societies' ability to protect itself when the threat persists. The World Counter Terror Congress 2020 will provide a closed-door opportunity for the national security community to meet and deliberate common challenges in the CT space.

AMBThe threat of international terrorism continues to persist, ranging from established Islamic extremist groups to the growing dangers posed by the far-right. Despite UK security services having foiled a total of 19 major attacks over the past two years, recent events demonstrates the continued risk to the public posed by violent extremists.

As such, it is vital that we maintain our investment in the capabilities of the emergency services, so as to deliver a coordinated and effective response when the unavoidable occurs. With a specific focus on emergency preparedness, resilience and response, AMBITION 2020 will offer the ideal platform for advancement in this field.
