Introducing the CTX Advisory Board

CTX has become an essential platform for developing technological concepts and thought-provoking insights in the counter-terror landscape. In order to maintain such topical discussions, it is essential that we attract the most knowledgeable and influential thinkers of our industry – which we do through unique conferences, innovative technologies and topical discussions.

The CTX advisers bring a wealth of experience and knowledge with them. They will contribute to guiding the conference content, providing commentary on pertinent topics and leading discussions.

RICHARD BARRETT

RICHARD BARRETT

Richard is Director of The Global Strategy Network, a group of policy makers and practitioners working to increase social cohesion and community resilience against violent extremism. From 2004 to 2012, Richard worked at the United Nations in New York as Coordinator of the Al-Qaida and Taliban Monitoring Team. Before joining the United Nations, Richard worked for the British Government both at home and overseas. He has published several papers and articles, most recently on Foreign Fighters and the Islamic State.

SCOTT WILSON

Between 2014 and 2018, Scott Wilson was the UK National Co-ordinator for Protect and Prepare at National Counter Terrorism HQ Scotland Yard. Until recently, Scott was a Detective Chief Superintendent and a Senior Investigating Officer with extensive working knowledge in homicide and counter terrorism investigations, having led over 50 murder and Counter Terrorism enquiries. As a SO15 Senior Investigation Officer and former head of Scotland Yard SO15 forensic management team, he is experienced in bomb scene management and disaster victim identification.

Terri Nicholson MSc served for 30 years in the Police service, performing senior leadership roles in Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime at Scotland Yard, the National Crime Squad and SOCA.  Terri retired as Assistant Chief Constable - Deputy Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism in the UK in June of this year.  She is now Vice President for International Security at Viacom – the multinational media conglomerate. She will join the SCTX advisory committee as one of the most knowledgable minds on counter-terror and security issues.

As a former head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command
(SO15) (2011-2015), Richard Walton has many years’ experience delivering successful counter terrorism and counter extremism strategies within a ‘rule of law’ framework. He has also worked internationally across the security sector delivering rule of law, stabilisation and capacity building in fragile conflict affected states.

MARSHALL KENT

Marshall is a highly skilled and vastly experienced security professional and senior police leader with over 30 years operational experience within the police, government and corporate sectors. Latterly he was the senior Metropolitan Police operational lead delivering Counter Terrorism Protective Security Operations based at New Scotland Yard. He was responsible for specialised terrorist threat and risk assessments based upon intelligence. Leading on the strategy, operational responses, security plans, the deployment of covert security assets, safety guidance, hostile risk mitigation, assurance, preparedness, the management and coordination of public safety, protection of critical infrastructure and the planning and delivery of high profile security operations and major events with critical security partners in London, the UK and overseas.

Commander Robert James Broadhurst, OBE, QPM was the 2012 Olympics Gold Service. He was formerly Commander for Public Order and Pan London Operational Support of London’s Metropolitan Police Service.

COLIN MORGAN

COLIN MORGAN

Colin Morgan retired from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) after over 30 years service in October 2016. His last role was Chief Superintendent in charge of the MPS’s Public Order Branch. In this role, he commanded the largest and highest profile public and security events in London and across the UK.  He has high levels of expertise in command & control, planning, risk mitigation, crisis management, personal safety and designing protective security regimes around the highest profile events and locations.  Colin now advises organisations nationally and internationally who are at risk from crime, disorder and terrorism. 

SUZANNE RAINE

SUZANNE RAINE

Suzanne Raine worked for the U.K. Foreign & Commonwealth Office from 1995 until 2019, specializing in counterterrorism. Between January 2015 and September 2017, she was head of the United Kingdom’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre.
